I received your last letter joyfully, as it has been far too long since we last corresponded. I was elated to hear of your entrance into high finance as I begin to pursue my own ascent. Your family’s health is ever on my mind, and I am thankful it remains stable. I remember fondly their estate, where we climbed those massive live oaks. I wonder if you could include a sketch of their current condition in your next letter?
Regardless, I felt compelled to pen a expedient response to your extant query, regarding Tucker Carlson.
The man is, at the end of the day, a journalist, and media figure. There is certain baggage that comes with this that cannot be ignored, and I fear that you are somewhat taken in by this ‘just like you’ blitz that every media figure worth their salt attempts.
What Mr Carlson is however is the sort of elite we once had. He is a genuine human being, in a way that is vanishingly rare in public life. He speaks the truth, in a society which grows increasingly hateful of it. He is a Christian, and tries to be one, which in and of itself sets him apart. He is an American, and I fear you only begin to understand just how precious that is on the American right.
But there is something even more essential about Tucker Carlson. He is a husband, and he has children. And they are Americans too. He is invested in the future in a way that almost none of the rest of these foreigner adjacent, jc penny suit wearing bought men are. Being a husband and father, a successful one, is not in and of itself a political act, and should not be mistaken for one. It is, however, a moral act, and the virtue burning through like Olympian fire is a rallying cry that drives him to speak the truth, even when the truth is in defense of those sort of white people. Carlson is the sort of man you’d want as a neighbor, and again that’s not something you can say of almost anybody in his sphere of public life.
Having said this, your speculation of a presidential run is unfounded. I see almost no chance of such an event occurring, and I would not encourage it.
I look forward to catching up more with you on our ski trip this winter, but hope this letter finds you well, and pray your summer is both relaxing and profitable.
Sincerely
Grant W. Brooks
