Alas, to look upon the vastness of empire
Born of blood one generation before
To see the iron forged in fire
and developed from days of yore
Long toil rewarded, on land and on water
The great mystery discerned, the great flag unfurled
The son grows to man, worthy of his father
Inheriting the great project, mistress of the world
But fears grow, and darkness expands
the ancients, forgotten, warn
Yet in chaos father and son plan
As another generation of American is born
