I will not disavow my patriomony.
I will not disavow my father, not his father before him
I will not disavow my cousins, nor any of my kin
I will not disavow my faith, my Savior, Lord, and King
I will not disavow my Protestantism, of which I could sing
I will not disavow my native diet, burgers, pies, drinks and all
I will not disavow green pastures, great forests, and mountains tall
I will not disavow my beloved United States of America
I will not disavow the Puritans of New England, even in grim dark
I will not disavow the Planters of Tidewater, proud and stark
I will not disavow the colonists who followed, daring and hoping
I will not disavow the wars they fought, in defense of life and mind
I will not disavow their humble beginnings, of wood and thatch
I will not disavow their great strides, to brick and column from scratch
I will not disavow their war of Independence, their freedom dearly gained
I will not disavow their government and documents, much famed.
I will not disavow the young Republic, already feeling its strength
I will not disavow the growth, as towards the pacific increased her length
I will not disavow the Pioneers, desperately fighting west
I will not disavow their economic system, still the very best
I will not disavow Manifest Destiny, nor its disciples free
I will not disavow the dream and reality of ‘from sea to shining sea’
I will not disavow American statesmen, dreamers, and engineers
who made leaps and bounds past their European peers
I will not disavow the free soilers, abolitionists, and sons of dixie brave
while I weep over the war that drove them all to their early graves
I will not disavow the Progressives, or American might
I will not throw any of it out to suit the ‘European right’
Since 1623 have my ancestors here tread
From Piedmont to the Cascades have they bled
I am an American, and shall ever be
I will never disavow my patrimony
And no Italian will tell me thence depart...
